About Us

The Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary was established in 2001 for a group of wolves that had been rescued from across South Africa. It has since evolved into an awareness centre, where visitors can view and interact with wolves, wolf dogs and huskies.

All animals have the right to live freely on the planet that we all share however, that is rarely the case for wild animals like the wolf.  We, at the wolf sanctuary strive to give our animals a place of safety, a place where they are respected and cared for.

Our sanctuary is filled with rescued or surrendered animals and every living creature deserves to be safe, healthy and happy and we have chosen to take that responsibility onto ourselves to ensure this happens for the animals we take in.

Our vision is to create awareness around these animals and their complex behaviours and natures, with the hope that this will offer understanding, appreciation and respect for these beautiful creatures.

The key to change is education and experience. We cannot change the world for these animals, but we can hope to change one mind and reach one heart at a time through the experience and information we offer.

“Whatever is said about a wolf, the opposite is often true”

Liz Bombord, The Complete Wolf 1993
